Post subject:  More about the new Deering 6-string

What I saw was a preproduction model. Now I understand that the "Solana 6" - the 6-string made for Deering's Good-time line has three features I didn't describe in the "Momma Don't Low" newsletter article - a special bridge that they claim provides a more balanced tone with less "boominess," a 12" head that improves the volume of the low notes, and a piezoelectric pickup attached under the bridge. Unlike their $3000 six-string, the Solana 6 will require a preamp or at least a good acoustic amp, but it does free the stage performer who is satisfied with the pickup's sound from working around microphones or adding his or her own aftermarket solution.
