Came across this song while I was revisiting the ClassicTrainSongs.com site. Yes, I am still trying to fix links Amazon broke on the home page. But this one was worth a new page. http://classictrainsongs.com/engine_num ... mber_9.htm |

When I started these forums, I didn't realize that the ClassicTrainSongs.com needed so many updates. So I've been working on getting it fixed, but at the same time, I keep coming up with songs that I really should have put on it. So as the ClassicTrainsSongs.com grows and gets updated, I'll be posting updates here. This is a good place for you to ask questions, upload information about classic railroad-related songs, etc. Keep in touch, Paul |

I couldn't very well post Roger Miller's "Engine, Engine Number Nine" without coming across his bigger hit "King of the Road" about five hundred times. Okay, so it's about a hobo, not about trains. But it mentions trains. And it's one of the catchiest tunes ever written. http://classictrainsongs.com/engine_num ... e_road.htm |

A musician friend mentions: Are you interested in earlier train songs? We have a collection of them from our youth… Railroadin' and Gamblin' Uncle Dave Macon Good Mornin', Mr. Railroad Man - Cisco Houston McKinley's Gone (The White House Blues) Flatt and Scruggs, Charlie Poole and the North Carolina Ramblers George Alley's F.F.V. - Flatt and scruggs or Engine 143 by The Carter Family Bill Mason (Was an Engineer) The Wreck of the Old 97 - Vernon Dalhart (1924) Waiting for a Train - Jimmie Rogers -----------Our response---------Please add yours below if you wish, but be nice. -------------- Thanks I had just stumbled across the Vernon Dalhart recording myself. I plan to link to it in my "Wreck of the Old 97" page which isn't quite ready for prime time. |
