I first posted this in the "Careers" section, but that was before I started this section, so I'm copying it here:

Clay Mills II and Marty Dodson are professional songwriters who coach other songwriters. If you have a dream about making it as a songwriter, take a look at the blogs that their "open" Facebook page links to. (They also have a "closed Facebook page that is only for the members of their program.)

They won't write or pitch your songs for you, and they're honest about the need for hard work, determination, and the ability to see your own work with a critical eye. To me, their blogs show a kind of honesty that the "Give me $5000 and I'll make you rich and famous" guys don't. You'll have to do some serious scrolling to see all of the blogs. If, after you've gotten a sense for what makes these guys "tick," you decide to sign up for their services, you'll get guidance and interaction with other folks in the same boat, but the hard work part is still "on you."

I'll be periodically posting link to blogs that I think are especially useful. Here's one that I think is a good overview of just SOME of the mistakes I made back in my twenties. It's called: "How To Behave In The Music Business: Don’t Be A Squirrel!"

Note: Before you sign up, your best bet for finding the guys' blogs is to go to their public Facebook page and just keep scrolling down. Once you sign up, you have access to a link on their web page ( http://www.songtown.com ) that takes you right to them.

Best of luck or as Marty and Clay say, Write On!
