In getting ready for a demonstration of different kinds of banjos this Saturday, I have picked up two well-used Aria four-strings. I plan to string one as a tenor (ADGC, same as viola) and one as an Irish banjo (EADG, an octave down from Mandolin). Both of them need cleaned and restrung. One needs serious adjustment. But I realize that those folks who do try to learn Tenor or Irish banjo, might have the same setup issues with new banjos that I'm having with these old classic imports. So I've created an article on "Setting Up a Four-String Banjo."
http://creekdontrise.com/tabs_instr/4-s ... _banjo.htmIt's a little confusing because of the various tunings and scale lengths, but it's still more specific than my previous, general "setting up fretted instruments" article.
