About the Author

Paul with GuitarPaul D. Race grew up along the National Road, within a stone's throw of one of the original toll house locations and next door to a former stage coach stop. Paul also grew up in a music-loving family with a collection of folk music records. As a teenager, he taught himself on a borrowed guitar, and he has been performing and composing ever since.

Paul has also been a fan of musical theatre most of his life. If the Creek Don't Rise is a musical tribute to the pioneer spirit that is still alive in the American Midwest. The fact that Paul still lives along the National Road, virtually sandwiched between historical markers, made the setting obvious.

Like most folk singers Paul pays the bills with day jobs. He is a professional writer, and he teaches writing and literature at a local college.
